▣ Local Dispatch Record

Hydrovac services in Mississauga mean exposing buried gas, hydro and telecom with pressurized water and vacuum before an auger, bucket or bore goes in. Industrial density around **Dixie Rd**, **Malton** and the **Airport Corporate Centre** puts buried services under nearly every new pad and addition.

Two big projects shape the work right now. The **Hazel McCallion Line** runs 18 km along Hurontario Street from **Port Credit** to Steeles Ave, with watermain, sanitary sewer and Alectra relocations along the route. On the waterfront, **Lakeview Village** is turning the 177-acre former Lakeview Generating Station site into a new neighbourhood with its own district energy system, so new buried lines are going in next to old industrial ones.

Work in a city road or boulevard needs a Road Occupancy Permit under By-law 0173-2020, and the permit holder must get all locates first. We have exposed 12 Alectra hydro vaults across the city and regularly pre-dig around Enbridge gas work, all on the same published CAD rate card used across the GTA.

Jobs here run on the same owned trucks, Red Seal crews and published CAD rate card as all of our

hydrovac services across Toronto and the GTA

## Buried Utility Conflicts on Mississauga Job Sites

LOCAL CONDITION

### Old feeds and new relocations crossing on the Hurontario and Lakeview corridors

An auger crew or bore is booked, but the drawings show old industrial services and fresh relocations crossing the same few metres of boulevard.

Why it happens here: The Hazel McCallion Line moved watermains, sanitary sewers and Alectra plant along Hurontario, and Lakeview Village is laying a district energy network over a former generating station site, so records lag behind the ground.

What we do: We daylight every crossing before machines move and log depth and offset for the engineer, then cut pile holes clean so the foundation crew follows without surprises.

SIGN 01 TOLERANCE ZONE

### Your dig sits inside a gas or fiber locate tolerance zone

CSA Z247 and the utility owner expect non-destructive exposure before machines move. One bucket strike can run past $50,000 CAD in repairs and fines.

SIGN 02 DESIGN RISK

### Your engineer is working from paint marks

Locates show position, not depth. Test pits at $800-$2,500 each give real depth and offset numbers before drawings are stamped.

SIGN 03 TIGHT ACCESS

### There is no room to swing a backhoe

Laneways, garage vaults and tight frontage. The truck parks at the curb and the hose reaches up to 200 ft to the dig.

5-Step Dig Protocol

## From Permit to Clean Hole in Five Steps

1. STEP 01

    ### Locate & Permit Check

We confirm your Ontario One Call ticket and the municipal road permit, walk the marks and photograph the site before the wand starts.

2. STEP 02

    ### Truck Staging & Traffic Control

The truck parks to keep the boom short and the hose clear of traffic, with cones and signage set to your traffic plan.

3. STEP 03

    ### Pressurized Excavation

3,500 PSI water loosens the soil and 27 inch Hg vacuum lifts it into the tank, so spoil never sits on the boulevard.

4. STEP 04

    ### Depth Log & Sign-Off

Depth, size, material and offset logged with photos at every exposure, ready for the locator or inspector.

5. STEP 05

    ### Licensed Disposal & Handover

Slurry goes to a licensed facility with records for your file, and the site is left swept.

Local Project Record

### Pearson Airport site pile hole excavation

$9,200 CAD 1 day

A foundation contractor near Pearson needed a full set of pile holes cleared through a corridor of buried electrical and telecom. We cut every hole plumb to depth in a single day, hauled the spoil away in the tank and left the auger crew a clear path.

Local Logistics & Site Familiarity

## Local Knowledge, Lakeshore to the Airport

### Getting Trucks to Peel Sites on Time

The city is close, but the 401/403/410 interchange can eat an hour if you hit it wrong. We plan around it.

- **Dixie Rd and Malton industrial blocks:** 25-30 minutes via the 401. Most warehouse sump, trench drain and interceptor jobs here are booked as 4-hour callouts.
- **Airport Corporate Centre and Pearson infrastructure:** airside and landside sites often need escorts or badge checks. We send the paperwork ahead so the truck is not idling at the gate.
- **Port Credit and Lorne Park:** Lakeshore Rd W storefronts and older residential streets with tight frontage. The remote hose keeps the truck off the lawn.
- **Erin Mills, Streetsville and Meadowvale:** plaza catch basins, oil interceptors and new commercial pads, 35-45 minutes depending on the 403.
- **Hurontario LRT corridor:** utility relocations along the line where daylighting is planned around lane closures.

Disposal goes to licensed west-end facilities so the truck is not driving full slurry back into Toronto. Scheduled jobs are booked during business hours; emergencies run 24/7.

### Utilities and Sites We Know Well

A lot of what we know about this city came from years of confined space cleanouts on local industrial sites.

- **Alectra Utilities hydro vaults:** in 2023 we exposed 12 vaults across the city, with photos of every lid, wall and conduit entry.
- **Enbridge Gas services and mains:** pre-dig inside the tolerance zone is routine, always on a valid ON1Call ticket and CSA Z247 protocol.
- **Region of Peel water and wastewater:** water main and sanitary work where exposures are logged by depth and offset for the engineer.
- **Warehouse and distribution centres off Dixie Rd:** trench drains, sumps and wash bays cleaned with the 6,000 gallon truck in one load where possible.
- **Pearson-area foundations:** pile holes and caissons cleared before augering so nobody hits a buried feeder.

The ground here is mostly clay till with a high water table near the lake, which affects how much slurry a dig produces and how many tank loads we plan for.
